ocr: COSTEP The COSTEP (Comprehensive Suprathermal Energetic Particle Analyzer) instruments are designed to detect suprathermal and energetic particle populations of solar, interplanetary, and galactic origin. Specifically, particle emissions from the Sun for several species (electrons, protons, and heavier nuclei) are usedto sample, in collaboration with other SOHO particle experiments, solar material and interpret the results in correlation with observations of their source regions taken with SOHO's optical telescopes.
